Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers. Debits, credits, and totals accounts. Receives, records, and banks cash, checks and vouchers using various accounting software like QuickBooks, xero etc.
Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations. Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables of cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses. Reconciles or notes and reports discrepancies found in records.
Receives and records incoming payroll documentation.
Routes for appropriate action.
Processes employment verifications.
Processes hand drawn payroll checks: generates checks, secures authorized signature, prints log and files checks for pickup.
Assists in controlling batch numbers and check stock.
Assists in preparing all monthly and bi-weekly payroll checks for distribution.
Coordinates production schedules, for payroll input and processing, in conjunction with master processing schedule and schedules of other departments.
Prepares for signature quarterly tax returns for federal, state and FICA, as well as for other-states payrolls as needed.
Oversees the maintenance of payroll records, logs and files in accordance with company policy and state and federal laws and regulations.
Supervises and coordinates fiscal and calendar year-end processing of payroll, including supplemental payrolls, W-2 and other tax forms, and other government-required documentation.
Oversees processing of payroll check exceptions and court ordered deductions.
Controls entries and clearings of assigned general ledger accounts
Monitors, reviews and verifies accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness and adequacy of supporting documentation.
Ensures compliance with internal policies, agency rules and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
Reviews and analyzes reports for accuracy prior to distribution.
Clarifies or researches issues as necessary.
Provides input for the development of accounting applications, reports, forms, records and documented procedures.
Assists in development of financial projections and forecasts.
Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
Completes forms for tax refunds.
Advises management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.
Ensures that organization complies taxing authority requirements.
Represents organization before taxing associations.
Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects.
