About the job:
TAS Commercial Concrete Construction has an immediate opening for a Division Controller, in Houston, TX. This position is accountable for providing direct technical and accounting support to the Executive VP and the Corporate Controller. The incumbent will develop and present a variety of financial reports that are required by the Company and its subsidiaries and divisions to operate efficiently. Divisional responsibilities also include the Payroll, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset Accounts and General Ledger. In addition, this position is responsible for completing special accounting and finance projects or other related assignments as may be needed or required by the organization.
Reports to the Executive VP and the Corporate Controller and is responsible for establishing annual division goals for the Accounting Department.
Responsible to TAS Executive Vice President for issues affecting TAS operations.
Insures SOX compliance through documented internal controls including recommendations for improvements to the policies and procedures.
Manages the activities of the accounting department to ensure that information is prepared accurately and in accordance with Accounting GAAP and Company policies and documented procedures.
Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast.
Assists in the formulation of cost accounting systems and procedures to accurately reflect the operations and status of the Company and assist management in directing and controlling operations.
Provides special cost studies, reviewing past or projected results as they pertain to aspects of current projects and operations. Apply continuous improvement in methodology to coordinate, lead and improve the cost structure of the Business Unit.
Leads in the preparation of the month-end and year-end closing processes ensuring that the process is completed accurately and on a timely basis.
Prepares monthly and year-end financial reports based on information finalized in month-end and year-end closing.
Reviews company financial statements for accuracy, and as required, seeks clarification from management of operational units on accounting data discrepancies.
Advises the Corporate Controller on accounting issues that may arise and recommends viable and timely solutions.
Responds to requests to work on and complete special projects as required.
Conducts periodic audits of operational accounting activities that include reviews check signer responsibilities, review of cash controls, and audits physical inventories.
Conforms with and abides by all applicable governmental regulations and corporate policies and procedures to accomplish the above tasks.

B. S. Degree in Accounting is required with a minimum of 8 years of experience in all Accounting functions with emphasis in Construction Cost Accounting and Percentage of Completion revenue recognition on long term fixed price contracts. A minimum of 5 years management experience demonstrating their ability to lead and direct the key functions an Accounting department. In addition, the incumbent must have:
Experience with computerized financial systems in a construction or manufacturing environment is required.
A MBA and/or CPA are preferred.
Must be flexible to travel to perform accounting duties at satellite locations.
Ability to quickly learn the accounting systems used by the organization; possess exceptional leadership qualities; possess the ability to evaluate and assess current Accounting system needs; develop recommendations to accommodate future growth; be an effective communicator; and ability to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management.

Resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills.
A relatively high level of analytical ability is required.
